Outreach and Education about Watersheds

Picture

LWVLMR owns two models of watersheds with the League of Women Voters of IL Education Fund.

Our trained volunteers use the models to:
  • demonstrate how watersheds work
  • show different sources of water pollution
  • talk about solutions to prevent pollution

If you'd like to have a model at your community event, please email us your request.

A watershed is the area of land where all of the water that falls in it and drains off of it goes to a common outlet.
                   --US Geological Survey
In 2017, volunteers researched four Wisconsin watersheds and created fact sheets for public education and outreach. Click through to access the 4-page pdfs:

Acknowledgements
LWVLMR is pleased to have collaborated with the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin  and the League of Women Voters of Illinois Education Funds on this work.

Thanks to all of our volunteers for their hours of contributions and to Jeff Edstrom for consulting services.

We are grateful for project financial support from NOAA and the IDNR Coastal Management Program for the demonstration models and The Brookby Foundation and Freshwater Future for the Watershed Fact Sheet Project.
