Take Action - Call Your Federal Legislators
We must rely on our Representatives and Senators to stand strong for the Great Lakes and restore funding for both the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative and for clean water infrastructure funding. House appropriators have included full funding for these programs but the budget process will likely take months. Please tell your members of Congress that the Great Lakes and water programs your priority. They have the power of the purse strings - call your members of Congress today!
Any member of Congress may be reached through the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121. To get direct phone numbers, use your zip code to look up who represents you.
This request for action has been approved by LWVUS.
Watershed Research Project
This summer, League volunteers are researching four Lake Michigan watersheds in Wisconsin. Information collected will be used to update facts sheets that were previously published by the U.S. EPA.
The fact sheets will be used for public education and outreach as local Leagues help us meet our goal of hosting 100 water-related programs.
We are excited to be working jointly with the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin on this project. Through this pilot project, we will learn about the process of collecting watershed data. In the future, we hope to expand to other watersheds in other states.
